Crisp Around The Edges But Still No Toast

There's a new sensation
A fabulous creation
A danceable solution
To teenage revolution

Do the Strand love
When you feel love
It's the new way
That's why we say
Do the Strand

Do it on the tables
Quaglino's Place or Mabel's

Slow and gentle
Sentimental
All styles served here
Louis says he prefer
Laissez-faire le Strand

Tired of the tango
Fed up with fandango

Dance on moonbeams
Slide on rainbows
In furs or blue jeans
You know what I mean
Do the Strand

Had your fill of quadrilles
The Madison and Cheap Thrills
Bored with the Beguine
The Samba isn't your scene

They're playing our tune
By the pale moon
We're incognito
Down the Lido
And we like the Strand

I'm completely ignorant. Where is that? And what is that song? And where have you been?

Eva,

That is the East End of the City Of London which is the business area as opposed to the West End which is the shopping/entertainment end of town.

I popped up there late on Tuesday night to sort out a problem with a very old friend which has gone on for far too long (since June of last year).

We have now done the shaking hands and manly hugs things and all is well (Until the little fucker messes me up again which happens every 10 years or so).

The song is "Do The Strand" by Roxy Music. I had lunch in Covent Garden (just off The Strand) on Wednesday.

It's one of my favourite spots in London although there are many to choose from.

* slobber slobber smoochies* to you too.

(This has got to stop as it's going to bugger up my tough, masculine hard-man image).

Tonight I am sad. Tomorrow I part company with one of my dearest friends for the last time ....but more about that later.

For now this Fripp is exhausted and heading for dreamland.

M.
