Saints And Sinners

When I find myself in times of trouble,
Mother Mary comes to me,
Speaking words of wisdom,
"Let it be".

I was at the match mate, and I positively screamed the place down by the third goal, and I was in ecstasy for the rest of the game! It was truly a spectacular night wasn't it? Hope you enjoyed your time in France.

We dispatched Watford nicely yesterday didn't we? The finals here we come. Let's hope Blackburn can dispatch Chelsea today!

By the way have you seen the papers today? There's defoo trouble in paradise between Mourinho and Abromovich isn't there?

Karen,

Didn't know about the Watford result until last night (I thought they were playing today !).

And I've always said that Blackburn are the second best team in Lancashire !!!

No - I havn't seen the papers today.
I gave up reading newspapers about 5 years ago because I can find out anything I need to know from the internet or the TV and all the paper just clutters the house up.
(Seriously good move ; I always seemed to have a house full of old newspapers. No more).

I figure it's inevitable that Mourinho ends up at Real or Barca though. It's just a matter of when.

Match about to start - see you later.

Had a good trip, Merlin??? Tell, tell.

Hi Shmoop,

Short but sweet trip. Fell in love with the waitress (as usual) but it'll wear off in a day or two.

Bordeaux est tres jolie - heading back to France in a couple of months so I might call in again.

So when do you, me and Eva get to smoke Camels and drink Guiness in our boots ?

That image really makes me smile for some reason !!!

Later,

M xx

3 of my paternal grandfather's 8 wives (not any of them at the same time!) were waitresses he'd met the restaurant they were working at. One of those was the 2 week marriage.

He always made sure he got the rings back, a pretty ruby set as I recall.

Merlin, you're tempting me sorely.

Ann,

He sounds like a remarkable man.

Still, if I get my skates on I might just be able to squeeze in another 7 wifes I suppose.

Falling in love with waitresses and barmaids is an occupational hazard for some men. I'm one of them.

It soon wears off (normally).

Eva,

Good - that's the idea.

"Bordeaux est tres jolie - heading back to France in a couple of months so I might call in again."

Ugh . . . I'll never be able to visit Bordeaux. There is someone in my past with connections to that name. I'd rather visit the Poland saltmines.

I am, however, glad that you had a nice trip. I'm envious.

Shmoop,

It's funny how we all develop these almost irrational "phobias" about places isn't it ?

For example I HATED Edinburgh for 15 years after "my 3 years of hell in Scotland".

Two years ago I finally allowed myself to be talked into a weekend there and I loved every minute of it. Saw the city in a whole new light.

Barcelona is probably my favourite city in the world now but 20 years ago you only had to mention the place and I felt physically ill for similar reasons.

As I said to Tam the other day (we were talking about a place near her home that has similar problems for me), you have to face up to these things and overcome them.

So - a dirty weekend in Bordeaux's out then ?

Hugs,

M.
