The French Inhaler (Deux) - ....and into the light.

She tells him she thinks she needs to be free
He tells her he doesn't understand
She takes his hand
She tells him nothing's working out the way they planned

She's so many women
He can't find the one who was his friend
So he's hanging on to half her heart
He can't have the restless part
So he tells her to hasten down the wind

Then he agrees he thinks she needs to be free
Then she says she'd rather be with him
But it's just a whim
By which she hopes to keep him on the limb

She's so many women
He can't find the one who was his friend
So he's hanging on to half her heart
He can't have the restless part
So he tells her to hasten down the wind

And with a spring in his step and a song in his heart he disappears to The Gower to re-appear early in 2007

The French Inhaler (Un) - Out of the darkness.........

When I think of those East End lights, muggy nights
The curtains drawn in the little room downstairs
Prima Donna lord you really should have been there
Sitting like a princess perched in her electric chair
And it's one more beer and I don't hear you anymore
We've all gone crazy lately
My friends out there rolling round the basement floor

And someone saved my life tonight sugar bear
You almost had your hooks in me didn't you dear
You nearly had me roped and tied
Altar-bound, hypnotized
Sweet freedom whispered in my ear
You're a butterfly
And butterflies are free to fly
Fly away, high away, bye bye

They Think It's All Over - It Might Be Now.

"Some people believe that football is a matter of life or death.
I'm very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you
that it's very much more important than that."

Casablanca : Christmas Day 2006

You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss,
A sigh is just a sigh.
The fundamental things apply,
As time goes by.

And when two lovers woo, they still say "I love you"
On this you can rely.
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by.

Moonlight and love songs never out of date,
Hearts of passion, jealousy and hate.

Woman needs man and man must have his mate,
That no-one can deny.
It's still the same old story, a fight for love and glory,
A case of do or die.

The world will always welcome lovers - as time goes by.

Monkey Gone To Heaven

Thanks for the call Robert. See you soon.

(Or maybe "See you on the pitch Patrick" ! )

Things may come and things may go but Krapyrubsnif goes on forever

Masha 'allah.

Merlin Has Gone To Rock The Kasbah

Italic

Take the train from Casablanca going South,
Blowing smoke rings from the corner of my mouth,
Coloured cottons hang in the air,
Charming cobras in the square,
Striped djebellas we can wear at home.

Don't you know we're riding on the Marrakech Express ?

By order of the prophet
We ban that boogie sound
Degenerate the faithful
With that crazy Kasbah sound

Whatever Would Robert Have Said ?

Dear Robert,

Hi - how are things ? Long time, no see although I'm told that you look in here from time to time to see what I'm up to. I'm well thank-you.

Remember this picture ? You should do because you pressed the button on the camera that took it. Happy days ; a stroll in the sunshine, a drink in one of our favourite pubs in the world. The date, incidentally, is 4 June 2006.

There's only one problem with this happy picture. We were both lying to each other. Perhaps "lying" is too strong a word. I was being economical with the truth. You were with-holding a piece of vital information. We were deceiving each other.

We need to put this right Robert and I have no way to contact you at present whereas you have my email address, my phone number and access to this blog.

We need to get together early in the New Year, in London if necessary, and get smashed and talk things through. We've fucked each other over before and we'll probably do it again but this thing needs to be sorted out.

I now know everything and I completely understand your situation. You may or may not know that my situation is not the same. You are forgiven completely.

Get in touch please : let's not blow 33 years of friendship because we're both stubborn, stupid bastards every once in a while.

Have A Good Xmas (sincerely),

Your Friend,

M.

Merlin Beats The Devil (For A Change).

" There were never moments in your life when you saw something actually
end, for whether you knew it or not something else was always flowering.
Never a disappearance, always a transformation.

In his youth Carter had believed that everything was possible. Then in grief,
he believed that everything was impossible. And now, the very moment he
stood, pulling Phoebe up with him, he felt that when you had lived enough of your life there was no difference between the two."

Tiny Cities

We're going down the road towards tiny cities made of ashes,
Going to hit you in the face, gonna punch you in your glasses -oh no,
Just got a message said that hell was frozen over,
Got a message from The Lord said "boy go get a sweater" - right now.

Ghosts Of The Great Highway (Part 1)

Cassius Clay was hated more than Sonny Liston
Some like KK Downing more than Glenn Tipton
Some like Jim Nabors, some Bobby Vinton
I like 'em all.

I put my feet up on the coffee table,
I stay up late watching cable
I like old movies with Clark Gable
Just like my dad does.

Just like my dad did when he was home,
Staying up late, staying up alone.
Just like my dad did when he was thinking
Oh, how fast the years fly.

I buried my first victim when I was nineteen
Went through her bedroom and the pockets of her jeans
Found her letters that said so many things
That really hurt me bad.

I never breathed her name again
But I like to dream about what could have been,
I never heard her calls again
But I like to dream.

The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Appears (In A Sudden Blinding Flash).

I know an emperor (in His own mind)
Who adores me because I am
The only one who will tell Him
He is completely nude
(And in fluoresecent light) ,
The only one in His company
Who will raise one brow and bark,
"Don't do that!"
He is demolishing his fifth wife,
He 53, she , 31 , a weaning baby involved.
His secretary has given Him
Perfunctory blow jobs for twenty years.
(Her wrinkles have started to disgust him
For the last five.)
But she is such a loyal employee
And NEVER has anything more important
And lives for the moment, between grunts
When he whines,
"You look beautiful with my cock in
Your mouth!"
Vehicle blow jobs
Warm flesh as convenient
As a blow-up doll.
I worshipped Him for three hours
In a shadowy hotel
After a confusing meal of shrimp fettucini
That had a metallic under taste
I saw myself in his fractured eyes
And turned my back.
"You're looking for demons
In the wallpaper ! " he wailed.
Easy
With the Dark One's
Montblanc in your hand.

Lowtide - December 5 2006

I promise you I won't leave a clue,
Not a tell-tale remark ; not a print from my shoe.
Still, a steady trail to the water's edge,
I will keep my pledge to the end,
For I intend to go free.

Peter Hamill
